We're just one week away from our first candidate forum. This Sunday, UNC law professor Barbara Fedders, a specialist in juvenile delinquency and criminal law and an advocate for school discipline reform, will moderate a live online candidate forum for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education.
Each forum will consist of a real-time written conversation between the candidates and the moderator. Though the moderator will have final say in question selection, we want you to contribute! To submit a question comment on this post, use the OP contact form (http://orangepolitics.org/contact), tweet at us (http://twitter.com/orangepolitics) or write on our Facebook page (http://facebook.com/orangepolitics).
The school board forum is the just the first in a series of five candidate forums we're hosting this fall. The full schedule is:
- Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education: Sunday, September 22, 7-9 pm, moderated by Barbara Fedders
- Hillsborough Board of Commissioners: Sunday, September 29, 7-9 pm, moderated by Vanessa Shortley
- Carrboro Board of Aldermen: Sunday, October 6, 7-9 pm, moderated by Kirk Ross
- Chapel Hill Town Council: Sunday, October 13, 7-9 pm, moderated by Kirk Ross
- Conversation With the Mayors: Sunday, October 20, 7-9 pm, moderated by Mark Chilton
Be sure to observe each forum and participate in a simultaneous, separate blog thread to discuss the forum and propose follow-up questions. OP editors will monitor this discussion in real time and feed readers' questions and follow-up topics to the moderator. Candidates will also be encouraged to ask each other questions and to comment on each others' responses.
